form 10 ie

Sure, I can help you with that. Here is an article I wrote on Form 10 IE based on the information I found online:

Form 10 IE: What is it and how to file it online?

Form 10 IE is a declaration form that allows taxpayers to choose the new tax regime for the assessment year 2023-24. The new tax regime offers lower tax rates but does not allow most of the deductions and exemptions available under the old tax regime. Taxpayers who opt for the new tax regime have to file Form 10 IE before filing their income tax return (ITR).

Who should file Form 10 IE?

Form 10 IE is mandatory for individuals or Hindu Undivided Families (HUFs) who have income from business or profession and want to opt for the new tax regime. They have to file Form 10 IE before the due date of filing ITR, i.e., 31st July or another date (in case the government extends the due date). They also have to mention the 15-digit acknowledgment number of Form 10 IE in their ITR.

Form 10 IE is not required for taxpayers who do not have income from business or profession and want to opt for the new tax regime. They can simply select the new regime in their ITR form without filing Form 10 IE. They can also switch between the old and new regimes every year depending on their income and deductions.

How to file Form 10 IE online?

Taxpayers can file Form 10 IE online by following these steps:

Under this section, you have to provide details of any deductions, exemptions, or allowances that you are eligible for under the old tax regime but not under the new tax regime. For example, house rent allowance, standard deduction, interest on housing loan, etc. You also have to provide details of any income that is taxable at special rates under the old tax regime but not under the new tax regime. For example, long-term capital gains, dividends, etc.
